Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) office assistant for the ECC at Oregon State University (OSU).
The College of Engineering’s School of Civil and Construction Engineering (CCE) is seeking a responsible, organized and energetic student to join our team part-time (typically 8-10 hours per week with a maximum of 20 hours per week, per policy). This position will support the mission and services of CIE (Construction Industry Empowerment) Scholarship Program and is responsible for supporting CCE by being the point person for a cohort-style scholarship program.
Position Duties
80% – Undergraduate scholarship and resource program support, including but not limited to:
• Coordinating and organizing student events (i.e. academic activities, jobsite tours, social activities, industry collaboration opportunities, professional development activities, etc.).
• Engaging with students in accordance with their needs (i.e. weekly or monthly check-ins as necessary).
• Communication related to student resources and accommodations needs.
• Communication of event planning budgets and resource needs to program staff.
10% – Other duties as assigned by CCE and/or other program staff.
10% – Design promotional materials such as brochures, handbooks, fliers, newsletters, etc.

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
 Currently enrolled in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering as an undergraduate or graduate student (currently funded graduate students are not eligible).
• Student must have current sophomore or higher standing.
• Ability to relate and communicate in a professional, positive, and friendly manner.
• Responsible, punctual, adaptable, and flexible.
• Ability to work during the academic year, minimum of 8 hours and maximum of 20 hours a week, during standard business hours and some evenings (Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with flexibility for some evening events).
• Experience with Canvas and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to be self-directed on projects and longer-term tasks.
• A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to represent the College of Engineering and CCE with maturity and professionalism.
• Applicants should be available each term during academic year of employment..
• Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, as a member of a team.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Construction Engineering Management (CEM) focus.
  • Experience supporting a program with students.
  • Experience utilizing design software (i.e. Canva, Adobe Photoshop, etc.).
