Job Description

The Budget Analyst is a professional memberof the Operations and Budget Analytics area of the University's Central BudgetOffice. This position has responsibilities that support report design andmaintenance as well as analytics, research, and training. The Analystprovides financial and technical support for the Operations, Systems andPlanning functional areas of the Budget department, as well as the entireFinance division, and other University colleagues through applications such asPeopleSoft Financials & HR, Cognos TM1 and Cognos 10 BI. The positionrequires strong Excel, report writing and analysis skills as well as theability to establish and maintain strong relationships and ongoingcommunication with various user constituencies that interact with the BudgetOffice. The Budget Analyst must also support the office in general dutiesas necessary and act in a backup role to the Budget Information Systems Analystfor limited coverage.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experiencebased on the following titles and hiring ranges:
Budget Analyst II: 3 to 5 years of directly related professional levelexperience; $68,100 - $85,150
Senior Budget Analyst: 5+ years of directly related professional levelexperience; $75,150 - $93,950


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with report/query writing desired, with PeopleSoft Financials, Cognos TM1 and Cognos 10 BI applications helpful.
  • Must possess the ability to assimilate and apply new technologies.
  • Knowledge of general budgeting and accounting principles required to be able to assist with the Annual Budget Development, Long-range Financial Plan and various analytics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a strong customer service orientation necessary to provide training on Budget reporting tools and to troubleshoot system issues.
