Job Description

The Budget Analyst is a professional member of the Operations and Budget Analytics area of the University’s Central Budget Office. This position has responsibilities that support report design and maintenance as well as analytics, research, and training.  The Analyst provides financial and technical support for the Operations, Systems and Planning functional areas of the Budget department, as well as the entire Finance division, and other University colleagues through applications such as PeopleSoft Financials & HR, Cognos TM1 and Cognos 10 BI.  The position requires strong Excel, report writing and analysis skills as well as the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships and ongoing communication with various user constituencies that interact with the Budget Office.  The Budget Analyst must also support the office in general duties as necessary and act in a backup role to the Budget Information Systems Analyst for limited coverage.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

Budget Analyst II:  3 to 5 years of directly related professional level experience; $68,100 - $85,150

Senior Budget Analyst:  5+ years of directly related professional level experience; $75,150 - $93,950

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with report/query writing desired, with PeopleSoft Financials, Cognos TM1 and Cognos 10 BI applications helpful.
  • Must possess the ability to assimilate and apply new technologies.
  • Knowledge of general budgeting and accounting principles required to be able to assist with the Annual Budget Development, Long-range Financial Plan and various analytics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a strong customer service orientation necessary to provide training on Budget reporting tools and to troubleshoot system issues.
