Essential Duties

As part of the Transfer recruitment team, the Assistant Director assists in the management of the department and serves as a resource for the Associate Director regarding requirements and trends with an emphasis on Arizona recruitment. Assists in the design, development and coordination of projects. Resolves problems and issues affecting the department and recommends measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department. May act in place of the Associate Director in that person's absence.
Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned staff, including, but not limited to:

  • Monitors work in progress and upon completion. Implements corrective action as required. Ensures recruitment efforts are in direct support of department goals with an emphasis on the metropolitan Phoenix campuses.
  • Prepares or coordinates preparation of administrative reports; analyzes and interprets statistics, financial data, and management planning data for predicting resource needs and developing long range plans. Conducts and assists with the development of long and short-range goals. Develops objectives, and activities based on department goals. Develops, maintains, and implements department policies and procedures. Assist with review of outbound communication and support efforts to ensure departmental and administration needs are met.
  • Acts as liaison with the community, students, faculty, and staff. Develops, implements, and evaluates department programs. Assists with other recruitment activities across campuses as needed. Serves as contact for select in-state and out-of-state colleges including travel or onsite recruitment development and follow up communication for events, activities and recruitment initiatives. Develop strategies to recruit, maintain, and enroll transfer students particularly through the use of CRM support mechanisms ○ Ensure appropriate levels of productivity are maintained
  • Ensure appropriate levels of reporting and analysis are maintained
  • Participate in in-state, out-of-state,and international recruitment trips.
  • Conduct training for admissions representatives within CRM deployment strategy and relationship development practices, specifically focusing on transfer students.
  • Lead in maintaining and enhancing relationships with colleges, departments and schools both internal and external to the university.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Frequent travel, involving operation of a motor vehicle
  • Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals; this position receives regular review of objectives.
  • Frequent evenings and weekends are expected.
