Job Description

Under administrative direction of the Grace Center Director and in collaboration with the Edson Director of Technology, performs work of considerable difficulty in planning, coordinating, and managing the staff, resources and activities related to experiential learning and integrating healthcare simulation technology across the college.

Essential Duties

  • Applies analysis, reflection, and synthesis of complex information to problems, concepts, and theories in educational strategies.
  • Directs simulation technology staff recruitment, development and evaluation.
  • Oversees acquisition and operation of simulation technology resources (servers, networks, software, data services) in collaboration with the Edson technology team.
  • Partners with the Edson Director of Technology in the integration of existing and emergent modalities into Edson’s educational space, such as AI and VR.
  • Develops a training pipeline for simulation technology staff based on core competencies.
  • Partners with the Edson faculty & staff to advance research opportunities related to simulation and experiential learning,
  • Collaborates with faculty/administration/IT staff to define, adapt, develop, and implement instructional technology software products for use in experiential learning environments.
  • Participates in formulation of annual budget and controls ongoing technology costs to execute projects and initiatives that will move the center forward toward its strategic goals.
  • Directly informs faculty, staff, and learners regarding ongoing operations, applications, and existing resources.
  • Manages projects related to simulation applications (educational and administrative).
  • Serves as direct liaison with Edson IT staff regarding ongoing operation, application, new and existing resources.
  • Collaborates in formulation of Edson technology plans and policies and future strategic planning.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Graduate degree in education, healthcare, information technology 
  • Experience in Healthcare Simulation Operations 
  • Evidence of being a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or CHSE -Advanced
  • Evidence of being a Certified Healthcare Operations Specialist (CHSE-OS) or CHSE-OS Advanced

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities that may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Use office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
