Position Summary/Purpose of Position: | The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work under the medical supervision of the head team physician and is responsible for working with the day-to-day athletic training operations for Football, to include prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes; pre-participation physicals; maintaining medical records; completing required insurance claims; daily interaction and communication with coaching staff, team physicians, resident athletic trainers, and administration; attending team practices and events; direct oversight of student workers; serve as the clinical mentor to students in training and manages injury prevention programming. Collaborate with the Director of Athletic Training with other administrative duties as assigned. Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include some evenings, weekends and holidays. |

Additional Information: | Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duty/Responsibility (1): | Provide comprehensive athletic training services for student athletes including evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and documentation of athletic injury /Illness. Attend practices, events and competitions as assigned. Oversees the injury tracking database and outside provider scheduling and documentation. Percentage (1): | 65% Essential Duty/Responsibility (2): | Interact and communicate on a daily basis with student athletes, coaches, physicians, administrators and members of the athletic training staff. Maintenance and organization of student athlete medical records, including maintaining security and confidentiality of all medical information. Complete all required insurance documentation to support claims. Percentage (2): | 30% Essential Duty/Responsibility (3): | Comply with policies, rules and regulations governing the NCAA, Big 10 conference, the State of Maryland, the University, the athletic department and the sports medicine program. Maintain continuing education to support and advance knowledge base. Percentage (3): | 5% |

Physical Demands | A moderate physical effort and levels of dexterity, including but not limited to: - The ability to stand for long periods of time in all weather conditions; - The ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds; - The ability to assist injured individuals on/off the playing field/court/surfaces; - The ability to climb, stand, stoop, run, and type. - The ability to work with individuals on various pieces of medical, physical therapy, and/or strength and conditioning equipment; and - The ability to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, extended periods of time without days off, travel, and be on-call as a regular part of the daily job. |
