Minimum Requirements:

Position Description:

The Assistant Athletic Director, Finance & Business Strategy will be responsible for oversight of the accounting and finance operations of the University of Louisville Athletic Department including budget, accounting functions, analysis, and financial reporting. This position will serve as the liaison between the Athletic Department and the University on all business matters and will report to the Deputy Athletic Director/Chief Financial Officer.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead accountant and oversight of all the finance and business activities of the Athletic Department including accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting. 
  • Oversee full-time business office staff as assigned.
  • Oversee all financial reporting to include monthly budget projections, revenue and expense analysis, cash monitoring as well as EADA and NCAA AUP reports.
  • Perform comprehensive financial analysis to advise decision making of senior leadership.
  • Proactively monitor department budgets to ensure compliance with Board approved targets.
  • Discuss monthly activity with coaches and department heads to ensure expenses are in line with budget.
  • Analyze monthly financial reports comparing actuals and budget to ensure accuracy.
  • Department lead on all internal and external audit requests.
  • Serve as Chief Financial Officer of the University of Louisville Golf Club and work collaboratively with ULGC staff on budgeting, expense management and reporting.
  • Serve as lead on Workday transition team for Athletics Department.
  • Lead and manage all capital project financing to include cash flow projections and debt analysis that may be necessary.
  • Oversee the annual budget preparation process for the Athletic Department including developing revenue/expense projections and serving as point of contact with University.  Assist coaches and department heads with annual budget preparation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Athletic Director/Chief Financial Officer and/or the Director of Athletics.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in business, finance, or related field.
  • Seven (7) years of related work experience in college athletics or related business function position.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Experience with strategic business planning and budgeting.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Peoplesoft, Workday, and Archtics, or similarly comparable finance and ticketing software programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills including verbal and written.
