The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), School of Nursing (SON) is currently recruiting for an Academic Services Coordinator. The Academic Services Coordinator is responsible for the administrative support of the academic programs for the Office of the Academic Deans SON. The Office of the Academic Deans drives the academic mission of the school by coordinating all programs in the school including the BSN, RN-to-BSN, MS, DNP and PHD programs. The Academic Services Coordinator works independently, exercises appreciable latitude, and knows and applies practices and procedures in support of these programs.

The Office of the Academic Deans collaborates with SON, The Graduate School, and UMB departments, providing a critical support structure for all students in the school. The academic affairs managed by the office include curriculum development and implementation, coordination of admissions processes and support, ensuring the integrity of each student's academic experience to include monitoring student progress, assisting with securing financial support, translating policies and procedures, and supporting the academic deans all related to student success.

Primary Duties

  • Supports administrative activities and various daily operations of academic programs with interrelated activities of other programs, departments, or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and specifications.
  • Provides technical advice, problem-solving assistance, answers to inquiries, and policy interpretation to students, faculty, academic deans, and others. Improves, supports, and communicates essential information about academic programs such as admission requirements, academic policies, and general program content.
  • Assists in the compilation and editing of content for periodic reports, grant/program proposals, promotional materials, journal articles, financial statements and records on academic program activities, progress, status or other special reports. 
  • Assist in the evaluation of program performance and progress toward program objectives in order to critically analyze results and make programmatic recommendations to ensure attainment of program deliverables.
  • Collects data on student progression, program evaluation, and compliance through interface with multiple web-accessible databases and electronic archiving systems. Assists with analysis of collected data. Assists with development, tracking, and reporting methods when necessary to monitor student and academic program activities.
  • Supports the academic, scholarly, and administrative work of the academic deans and program directors including communication of essential information to students and faculty, compiling responses to queries, preparing reports, and citation assistance for journal publications.
  • Enhances student experience by arranging extracurricular seminars, study sessions, or workshops.
  • Assists in the development, compilation, and written materials for program coursework communications and promotional literature for distribution, such as newsletters, brochures, or flyers.
  • Assists in the preparation, organization, and dissemination of class or conference schedules, course descriptions, outlines, syllabus, and other similar materials through close coordination with faculty. Maintains timelines by assuring accurate and timely documentation and appropriate and timely communication among all stakeholders.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

  

Minimum Qualifications 

Education:  Bachelor's degree.

Experience: Prior related administrative experience in which program coordination is the primary responsibility.

Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education. Clery act designated job as campus security authorities (CSA) member and will comply with Clery Act requirements.

Possess a thorough knowledge of academic program and requirements and able to perform the position in compliance with all requirements/regulations/laws. Remain calm and manage conflict and work well with a diverse workforce.

Hiring Range: $49,000-$55,000; commensurate with education and experience.
