Job Description:

Proposal Development, Manuscript, and Grant Writing support

  • Developing and submitting high-quality grant and project proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documents, in partnership with PIs and Co-Is.
  • Tracking and managing grant deadlines.
  • Working with other grant partners to develop joint proposals.
  • Assisting in writing proposals as necessary to continue or initiate research and special projects.
  • Coordinating and managing input of team staff to around all project work.
  • Collaborating on and drafting manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Overseeing literature review for manuscripts.

 Funding Opportunities

  • Identifying funding opportunities that align with the university’s research priorities.
  • Implementing tools to track and assess the success of funding pursuits.
  • Collaborating with PIs to identify and pursue new external funding opportunities at the federal and state levels, as well as with foundation grants and private industry sponsors.

 Metrics, Analysis, and Reports

  • Identifying key performance indicators.
  • Conducting data analysis, managing databases, and generating reports on research activities, funding, and outcomes for decision-making.
  • Ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of reports.
  • Working closely with finance, program departments, and external partners.
  • Ensuring compliance with grantor guidelines and partnership agreements.
  • Overseeing data brief creation for use in media and web dissemination.
  • Assuring that research projects meet expectations for regulatory bodies.
  • Assisting the team with site analysis (i.e. GIS).

Training and Workshops

  •  Identifying or developing training programs for researchers.
  • Organizing workshops and symposia on advanced topics related to research development and ongoing projects.
  • Collaborating with other departments or institutions on joint outreach initiatives.

 Management, Administration, and Site Visits

  • Managing projects, proposals and applications in conjunction with lab and department staff.
  • Liaising with internal teams, with our customers, and with government agencies to ensure complete, competitive, and timely submissions and compliance with regulations and contracts.
  • Optimizing laboratory processes.
  • Participating in strategic planning and directing assigned initiatives.
  • Participating in local, state, and national workshops and conferences.
  • Serving as a key point of contact for program-related inquiries and information.
  • Managing efficiently resources allocated to the program.
  • Planning and coordinating all activities for the site visits.
  • Coordinating with regulatory agencies to address any pre-visit queries and requests and respond to any post-visit reviewer questions.
  • Performing or managing other duties as assigned.
Expected Salary:

$75,000 - $90,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in grant and contract administration or grant writing, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree with at least 5 years of experience in grant and contract administration, grant writing, manuscript writing, and/or management of teams and projects. PhD preferred. 

Ability to identify funding opportunities; understanding of research funding mechanism or grant development process; strong project management and organizational skills; critical thinking skills for decision making, strategy development, and prioritization; proficient with relevant research tools and software.

Experience in research development, grant writing or related areas; working with interdisciplinary research teams; regulatory and compliance issues in research; and manuscript writing and journal submission.
