This opportunity would ideally suit a Band 7 or an experienced Band 6 occupational therapist working in the NHS (or equivalent) that has expertise in formal teaching, training, and supervision, or those with previous Higher Education experience.

Our Department of Allied Health Professions and Life Sciences is one of the UK’s leading teaching centres of health education and one of the first universities to offer Allied Health Professions Degree Apprenticeship Courses.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading a workstream within our portfolio of Degree Apprenticeship courses in Occupational Therapy and inter-professional portfolio.

As a Senior Lecturer, you will be able to inspire our learners and draw on their work-based learning experiences to make a valuable contribution to their teaching and learning, whilst preparing them for contemporary occupational therapy practice.

Alongside this, is the opportunity to develop your career, further your own academic profile and enhance your teaching through studying for the Postgraduate Certificate - Teaching in Higher Education.

You must be an HCPC-registered occupational therapist and have well-developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical, and theoretical issues relevant to contemporary practice and pre-registration education.

You will ideally be at the forefront of new ways of working in the NHS, in either primary or secondary settings, demonstrating care innovation and emergent management pathways.

We are currently developing a team of lecturers to support placement learning activities across our three degree apprenticeship courses.

It is envisaged that, in this post, you will lead and co-ordinate placement learning, supporting innovation and quality of occupational therapy practice education in higher education, whilst building and retaining strong links with employers, work-based mentors, practice educators and apprentices.

The role also requires you to contribute to our pre-registration apprenticeship courses through teaching, assessing and academic citizenship/research activity.

The ability to inspire, enthuse and connect with a range of backgrounds is required.  You will support students’ academic and placement learning progression, and work collaboratively to enhance the student experience.

We are growing our occupational therapy team due to continued expansion of our teaching portfolio. Our teaching team has a range of expertise in all areas of occupational therapy and is responsible for a distinctive and high-quality education portfolio which includes the BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, BSc Occupational Therapy Degree Apprenticeship, the pre-registration MSc Occupational Therapy and MSc Advanced Practice in Sensory Integration.

In addition, the team contributes to cross-department and cross-College teaching including the inter-professional education provision and CPD provision.
