Applications are invited for two full-time Research Laboratory Technicians who will be based in the Blood Processing Laboratory (BPL), which is a facility primarily focused on processing cancer patient blood samples for isolation of plasma, circulating tumour cells and lymphocytes. The BPL works in close collaboration with the Cancer Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory (CMDL) aimed to translate cutting edge methods for advanced diagnosis and clinical management of cancer at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre.
Following on the successful major centre funding award from Cancer Research UK the new Integrative Cancer Medicine theme will bring together knowledge, expertise and emerging technologies to establish a personalised cancer medicine strategy that diagnoses cancer early and individually stratifies, treats and monitors all patients (http://www.cambridgecancercentre.org.uk/ ).
We are seeking two enthusiastic and independent Research Laboratory Technicians to join our research team in the Blood Processing Laboratory. The successful applicants will play a major role in supporting the laboratory team in processing research samples (including blood, ascites, urine, pleural fluid and tumour biopsies etc.) according to GCPL and ISO2012:15189 guidance.
A high level of attention to detail and organization is required in laboratory work, and previous experience working under a quality management system would be advantageous. Good written and oral communication skills are essential. Working within the current research team, the role holder will support the full scope of the laboratories' activities.
