An exciting opportunity has arisen for an interdisciplinary researcher to join our Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (CRESR), one of the UK's leading academic centres for applied policy research.
Initially in this role, you will work as part of a team delivering a UKRI-funded research programme focused on ‘green and just economic development’.
The research will include contributing to two research projects, investigating possibilities for construction and manufacturing transitions to support inclusive regional economic development as follows:
- Let Zero: a project seeking to address private rented sector retrofit, including supply side (SMEs, employment, skills) coordination and support.
There will also be potential for you to have involvement across a portfolio of research on green and just economic development.
Alongside the two projects above, current research council-funded projects on this theme include research on the future of industrial places, place-based implications of hydrogen and carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) deployment, and just transitions for small businesses.
You will have experience in the use of qualitative research methods applied within a social science or humanities setting.
Ideally, you will have experience of the following methods and skills, or feel confident to adopt them with the right training and support: qualitative interviews, policy/documentary analysis, qualitative data coding and thematic analysis, writing for academic and policy audiences.
It would be great if you also have experience of working with different stakeholders and partners to build relationships, such as policy and/or government organisations, businesses, or voluntary sector organisations.
An interest in just transitions, social and spatial implications of economic change, or low carbon work and skills would be beneficial.
This is a permanent post, with potential for you to develop your research interests and expertise in an inclusive and supportive environment for personal and academic development.
This role will include travel in the UK, with potential for international travel.
