Professional Tutor in Contemporary Fashion Design

The Faculty of Creative Arts & Humanities are seeking to appoint a committed and self-motivated Professional Tutor in Contemporary Fashion Design. We are looking for a forward-thinking designer/maker with an interest and expertise in sustainable design. A candidate whose fashion practice engages with current industry trends and directions, and embraces conscious design and a responsible fashion agenda - links to the profession.

Liverpool Hope, School of Creative & Performing Arts, is situated on our Creative Campus near the City Centre. The Campus houses a range of Creative Arts subjects, such as Drama, Dance & Performing Arts, Fine Art & Design, Music and Film & Visual Culture. The applicant will work within the Subject area of Fine Art & Design.  We have a strong collegial environment which is vibrant and offers opportunities for collaboration. You would be joining a dedicated team of colleagues who provide leadership and co-deliver the curriculum. There are dedicated facilities and workshops which house a range of equipment and processes, both digital and more traditional hands-on machinery which supports the student experience.

The post of Professional Tutor, with a focus on Contemporary Fashion Design is based within the vibrant and expanding Creative & Performing Arts School at the Creative Campus City. The post holder will have expertise in Fashion practice and will contribute to teaching principally within Contemporary Fashion Design, and also contribute across a range of subject programmes at both Foundation and Undergraduate levels.  Applications from individuals with expertise in the areas of Fashion practice and theory would be particularly welcome.  We would also be happy to receive applications from suitably qualified individuals with other specialist Fashion knowledge. The post holder will also be expected to plan, prepare and deliver quality lecture content and workshops and demonstrations from an academic / induction perspective and ensure activities are carried out whilst conforming to health and safety regulations. Creative practice and scholarship and a commitment to the wider academic university life is essential. The ideal candidate should have experience of teaching, preferably at Higher Education level. They should be able to contribute to the supervision of undergraduate (and where appropriate postgraduate taught) dissertations or other such research projects.  Having an ability to teach areas of fashion sustainability, garment construction, fashion agenda and/or other areas of the professional fashion / design curriculum would be welcome.
