FTE: 1.0 fte (full time, working 37 hours per week) and 0.60 fte (part time, working 22 hours per week pro rata)

Duration of Contract: Permanent

Salary: UH7 £37,099pa pro rata to £40,521pa pro rata with potential to progress to £44,263pa pro rata by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience

Annual Leave: 30 days pro rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane Campus, University of Hertfordshire

Occupational Health has been established by the University of Hertfordshire to provide a high quality, independent and confidential service to all staff, health, life and medical sciences, art therapy and education students at the university. It is envisaged that the service will be constantly evolving and developing to meet the ever increasing and often specific needs of clients and the University, hence the duties of the role is not exhaustive.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

You will assist the Occupational Health team in the provision of a comprehensive Occupational Health (OH) service to all employees and students (as appropriate) in the university, to promote the health and wellbeing of both staff and students at University of Hertfordshire (UH).

The Occupational Health Advisor will be responsible for providing advice, support and guidance to the Service Users and wider multidisciplinary team.  Acting as a professional role model, providing strong, facilitative and effective support to the Placements Students and New staff. Additionally, the position will involve assessing new clients presenting to Occupational Health whether in person or by written referral and initiate management of case. Maintaining the confidentiality of information about healthcare students, staff and other University business in accordance with professional codes of conduct and relevant legislation such as the General Data Protection Regulation/Data Protection Act is a fundamental part of this role.

Skills and Experience Needed

Significant experience of working in an occupational health environment and knowledge of relevant drugs and medicine legislation to OH practice is essential. A successful candidate will have the ability to prioritise work and be self-motivated as well as having good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.

Qualification Required

Registered Nurse – Adult (part 1 Nursing and Midwifery Council Register) is essential.

A Diploma/Degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Health Nursing and Registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Part 3 Nursing and Midwifery Council Register) is desirable.
