About the role

An innovative service leader, with commercial acumen, and knowledge and experience of UK student recruitment markets and practices – and widening access and participation practice, including collaborative partnerships. Capable of building relationships with senior stakeholders internally (academic and professional services) and externally (teachers, advisers, parents, supporters, partners and collaborators).

Joining at a time of significant change and opportunity, the Director will drive continuous improvement that positions the University of Hull competitively and increases student applications and enrolments from all UK markets. This is a newly created role, established to lead colleagues across the UK Student Recruitment Service, including the Schools and Colleges Engagement, Student Recruitment Events teams – and our Access and Participation Commitments (for Access) including the Humber Outreach Programme (HOP) Uni Connect Partnership.

Main tasks and duties

  • Strategically direct and lead the UK Student Recruitment Service to ensure modern and efficient practices enable delivery on core student recruitment objectives that align to institutional priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with the University Leadership Team, the COO Executive Team, the academic community, and other stakeholders, contributing to the recruitment target setting process, with a view to growth and expansion.
  • Use data and insights, to target the University’s established, growing and developing markets in the UK.
  • Develop a data-driven approach to student recruitment planning, strengthen engagements with prospective students and their influencers, and ultimately ensure the University meets its enrolment targets across UK markets.
  • Build strong relationships with influencers such as teachers, advisers, parents and supporters, to maximise influence on prospective student decision-making.
  • Innovate and create new opportunities to maximise student growth from all target markets regionally and nationally.
