The purpose of this Database Manager post is to develop and support research data systems for cleft lip and palate research studies run within Bristol Dental School. This will include a new National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Programme Grant, ‘Improving outcomes by addressing variation in unmet needs at transition to adult care for young people born with cleft lip and palate.
- Plan, develop and maintain research data systems/databases to store information from new projects/studies.
- Write and implement data management plans and produce technical and user documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain data quality within research data systems by writing complex database queries and update routines to ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice and study protocols.
- Collate existing data from multiple studies and create datasets for use by researchers.
- Provide support and training to ensure users have access to the research data systems and user problems arising are resolved.
- First degree in Computing, Information Technology or related subject, or equivalent qualification/experience.
- A strong track record of designing, developing, delivering, testing, and deploying web applications, databases and data platforms.
- Experience in software design and development with at least one programming language e.g. Python.
- Experience of designing and implementing robust systems for data collection (including data capture software such as REDCap), integrity checking and retrieval to flexibly meet the needs of individual projects.
- Knowledge of relational databases and software systems e.g. Microsoft SQL Server
Contract type: Open ended with Fixed Funding until 31/05/2027
Work pattern: Part Time/0.4 FTE
Grade: J
Salary: £41,732 - £46,974 per annum (Pro-Rata)
