Offer Description

The Department of Biomedicine is a joint effort between the University of Basel and the University Hospitals Basel. It unites basic and clinical scientists to advance our understanding of health and disease and to develop pioneering therapies benefiting the lives of patients in areas of unmet need.

With more than 70 research groups and 900 employees, the Department of Biomedicine is the largest department at the University. We are located in the heart of Basel at 6 different locations. Be part of our future!

The newly funded SNF project “Investigating sunfilter-based redox perturbations and their impact on skin cancer formation" headed by Elisabeth Roider, MD, PhD, is currently seeking a laboratory technician to join our young and international team.

The candidate will be (a) conducting various experiments and procedures in a BSL2 lab setting (b) collaborating with a diverse and international team of scientists and researchers (c) taking an active role in the education and monitoring of students.

The successful candidate will have a completed education as MTA/CTA or equivalent and should work with high precision, independently and flexibly. The position requires a high degree of autonomy and the capability of conducting independent research, making informed decisions, and driving the project forward without constant supervision. Experience in human cell culture, molecular biology and histology is expected. FELASA Level B (LTK1) training and experience in animal surgery techniques are desirable. The candidate possesses excellent interpersonal skills as well as strong problem-solving and organizational capabilities. Experience in computer-based data handling and analysis (Excel, GraphPad Prism) is desirable. Fluency in English (spoken and written) is expected.

You will be working in a newly formed research group in a well-equipped environment. We offer flexible working hours as well as a competitive salary.
