The Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of seven departments within which both research and teaching are conducted. The department is involved in advanced research in both basic and applied research. All departments work in close contact with clinics at Karolinska University Hospital. The department's educational activities contribute to most programs and courses within KI's total educational offerings.

The Division of Biomolecular and Cellular Medicine is focused on the use of modified biomolecules, cells and cell products as novel therapeutic agents and the identification and study of suitable biomolecular and cellular targets for therapy and diagnosis.

Currently, the Oscar Wiklander research group is looking for a research assistant for a temporary position for 6 months (full time).


Description of the dubject area

Our group has expertise in the analysis of extracellular vesicles. As these are released by all cells and found in body fluids, they are promising targets for early diagnosis of diseases, such as cancer.


Your mission

We are looking for an ambitious researcher to develop methods to isolate extracellular vesicles from body fluids, as well as analytical methods to identify the molecular signatures of diseases they carry. The work will involve laboratory work including cell culture, handling of blood and biofluids, and various techniques in molecular biology.


Your profile

To be considered for this position you should:

  • Have completed a master's degree in biology or basic medical training
  • Have laboratory experience in molecular biology
  • Have experience working with biofluid samples
  • Have basic knowledge in the field of extracellular vesicles
  • Have the ability to understand and communicate in English in order to work independently
