University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position of Polish language teacher in the School of Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners of the Institute of Polish Studies at the Faculty of Letters

The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

The candidate is required to

  • Possession of a master's degree in Polish philology.
  • Documented professional preparation in the field of teaching Polish as a foreign language – completed glottodidactic specialization at the master's degree or postgraduate studies in teaching Polish as a foreign language.
  • A minimum of five years of teaching experience at a university, i.e. teaching Polish as a foreign language to foreigners, documented in the professional curriculum vitae.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in teaching methodology to candidates for lectors (e.g., glottodidactic specialization or postgraduate studies) and/or conducting workshops for teachers of Polish as a foreign language.
  • Documented international cooperation (e.g., in an educational project) to popularize the study of the Polish language abroad.
  • Knowledge of the Polish language to enable efficient communication in academic didactics and in the university environment; knowledge of English (to the extent to communicate with foreigners).
  • The competition committee will also take into account the following additional criteria related to the profile of the School of Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners: possession of the qualifications of an examiner of Polish as a foreign language;

    • a minimum of five years' participation in the work related to certificate examinations in Polish as a foreign language;
    • ability to independently compose a language and culture program and prepare various types of tests;
    • authorship/co-authorship of scripts or other teaching materials; documented experience in conducting online classes and in preparing lesson materials taking into account the specifics of remote teaching;
    • ability to use and apply new technologies helpful in teaching (e.g. multimedia whiteboard, educational platforms);
    • organizational skills;

    Responsibilities (in the teaching, organizational area, respectively):

  • Educating foreign students in Polish as a foreign language and Polish culture.
  • Participating in the organizational work of the School.
  • Improving one's professional competence.
  • The application for the competition should include

  • Personal questionnaire (download Personal questionnaire ).
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • A copy of the master’s diploma with a supplement (in the case of post-graduate studies – a certificate of completion).
  • A declaration stating that if selected, the successful applicant will designate the University of Wrocław as their primary place of employment (download Workplace Statement ).
  • A personal overview of the applicant’s research and teaching record, organizational experience and achievements in popularizing scholarship (autoreferat).
  • An indication of at least two scholars available to prepare reviews of the applicant’s research, teaching and organizational record. The scholars must hold a post-doctoral degree (doctor habilitatus) or a state professor degree in the humanities and specialize in the field of the applicant’s expertise.
  • A teaching program of 30 hours in the field of: Polish language lektorat A1 level.
  • Any other documents which may prove the candidate’s eligibility for the position.
  • A cover letter addressed to the Rector of the University of Wrocław.
  • A statement in connection with Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018. The Law on Higher Education and Science (download Declaration – Article 113 ).
