RECTOR of MARIA CURIE-SKŁODOWSKA UNIVERSITY in Lublin
announces a competition for the position of Assistant Professor in the group of research and teaching staff at the Department of Molecular Biology at the Institute of Biological Sciences at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology UMCS

The competition may be entered by individuals who meet the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742) and in the UMCS Statute of May 29, 2019, as amended.

Skills/Qualifications
  • possession of a doctoral degree in science in the discipline of biological sciences, or related disciplines;
  • substantial scientific achievements, including post-doctoral work, in the field of regulation of gene expression at the level of protein biosynthesis and regulation of metabolic phenomena under stress conditions;
  • experience in carrying out and supervising research projects;
  • proven active participation in scientific life (participation in scientific conferences, courses, obtained scholarships, grants, patents, prizes, distinctions, scientific cooperation);
  • teaching experience in working with students;
  • organisational experience;

Specific Requirements
  • practical knowledge of analytical methods applied to research using eukaryotic research models, such as S. cerevisiae yeast and cell lines;
  • practical knowledge of methods in genetics, molecular biology and cell biology (including, isolation, analysis and manipulation of nucleic acids, PCR, DNA/RNA and protein electrophoresis, CRISPR/Cas9 mutations, western-blotting, metabolomic analyses - RNA/RIBOseq, levels of amino acids and other metabolites);

The university does not provide housing.

The settlement of the competition does not result in establishing an employment relationship. The decision on employment is made by the Rector. The University reserves the right to close the competition without a decision.
