The role/Te mahi

The Manager Research Integrity is a new senior role reporting directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and providing high quality strategic and operational support for senior academic leaders. In this role you will lead the new unit that undertakes a range of research integrity services including: research ethics support and compliance; clinical trials compliance; and trusted research, protective security compliance. The unit also provides secretariat services and managing the business of a range of research-related committees and boards.

The position builds capability across the team and guides and develops a supportive and high-performance work culture. A strong customer service orientation and commitment to continuous improvement initiatives is critical to the success of the role.

Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

To be successful in this key role, you will ideally be tertiary qualified with a background in research management, and have extensive experience working in a complex advisory role where high levels of customer service delivery are expected.

You will also be able to demonstrate:
•    People leadership skills.
•    Experience in interpreting and applying complex policies, procedures, and statutes.
•    Experience in the delivery of advice and analysis on procedural and compliance issues, ideally in a research environment.
•    Proven skills in working with the wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

High attention to detail and strong organisation and time management skills are essential for this role. Familiarity with regulations, procedures, compliance and quality assurance processes for academic research in New Zealand would be an advantage.

This is a full time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position, located in Dunedin.

The salary range is $100,184 to $108,132 per annum. The successful candidate will be appointed to an appropriate level based on qualifications, skills and experience.
