Event Specialist

Manage and implement external & internal marketing & recruitment events.

Mō te tūka | The role

Exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to manage and implement exceptional external and internal marketing and recruitment events, that present the University appropriately and attractively to prospective students and other stakeholders.  
Based in our Marketing team, you will lead and implement a wide range of events across the University. Flexibility to work outside standard work hours is required, and the role may require occasional travel.

Some tasks of the role include:

  • Event organisation & execution.
  • Supplier & relationship management.
  • Merchandise, equipment & maintenance management.
  • Staff leadership.

This is a permanent role working 37.5 hours per week based at our Lincoln Campus.  The remuneration range is set at $75,000 - $90,000 per annum.

Kā tino Pūkeka/Whēako | Essential skills/experience for the role

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a relevant area is preferred however equivalent knowledge may be demonstrated through at least 4-5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Previous success in leading the planning, organising and delivery of events.
  • Demonstrable experience in the management of multiple events at one time, in disparate locations.
  • Staff management is required particularly the coordination of casual and volunteer staff.
  • Proven time-management and organisational skills and the ability to manage projects to completion within agreed timeframes and budgets.
  • Comprehensive skills in MS Office applications (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Highly developed communication skills, particularly presentation.
  • Knowledge of, or experience within, the secondary school or tertiary education environment (preferred).
  • Experience in purchasing and promotion of products or services (preferred).
