The role/Te mahi

We have two opportunities for proactive, organised, and enthusiastic people to join our Administration team in the Division of Humanities.  

As a Lead Administrator, you are pivotal in supporting a Head of School by coordinating professional services for the academic units' smooth and efficient daily functioning. 

This role implements applicable policies and business plans to ensure the realisation of the School's strategic objectives and goals. You will deliver outstanding experiences for students and staff within your portfolio by providing guidance and leadership to a team of Administrators. 

The role will require you to:
•    Communicate regularly and work closely with the Head of School.
•    Implement policies and business plans to ensure strategic objectives and goals are met.
•    Develop a working knowledge of your team’s day-to-day administrative tasks and University of Otago systems and processes.
•    Ensure your staff are appropriately trained, equipped, and supported to fulfil their roles.
•    Work continuously to improve systems and processes.

You will work alongside experienced Lead Administrators and as part of a supportive leadership team.

The successful candidate will have:
•    Significant experience in a busy and/or complex administration environment.
•    The ability to be calm, adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced environment.
•    Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with a range of people.
•    A positive team approach that is solutions-focused.
•    Strong Microsoft Office skills.

You will be a highly organised self-starter who enjoys problem-solving and is excellent at building and maintaining effective relationships with academic and professional colleagues, and students. 

Your relationship-building skills will be important, ensuring that you become the trusted point of contact for a range of students, staff, and visitors.

Lead Administrator roles are part of Divisional Services & Administration, a team of highly skilled professional staff responsible for delivering an outstanding student and staff experience through high-quality, effective service delivery to the University’s internal and external customers.

We have one full-time (37.5 hours), and one part-time (0.7 FTE / 26.25 hours), permanent positions available, located in Dunedin.

The appointment range for a Lead Administrator is $70,602 to $76,668. Top of Range $82,849.
