Offer Description

The project activities will be centred on the selection, purification
and characterisation of new diatom proteins able to guide biosilicification to produce hybrid
silica-organic nanomaterials. Microalgae species will be selected among the ones present in the
Gulf of Naples for which sequenced transcriptomes and genomes are available. The selected candidate
will perform extensive bioinformatic searches to mine and identify the genes responsible
for biosilicification and formation of the different frustule shapes. Experience in biochemistry and
molecular biology is desirable, since part of the activities will consist in the purification and production
of the microalgal proteins with the desired self-assembly properties to guide silica deposition.
Base level bioinformatic skills will be considered an added value

Selection process

Competition based on qualifications and interview. The assessment of the candidates will be conducted by a special jury, which will examine the qualifications and the performance of an interview aimed at ascertaining the candidate's professional expertise in scientific, as well as his attitude to carry out specific research subject of the application
