The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The role  

We are looking for a PhD-holder lab manager to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the experimental laboratory, supporting ongoing research activities, and facilitating the establishment of experimental assays. 

Key Responsibilities: 


  • Oversee inventory management, including procurement of supplies and materials, tracking of laboratory consumables, and maintenance of adequate stock levels. 

  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, experimental procedures, and research data in accordance with established guidelines.  

  • Collaborate with researchers to design and execute experiments, troubleshoot technical issues, and optimize experimental protocols. 


About the team

We are a leading research group dedicated to implementing generative AI models to revolutionize protein engineering and design. Our multidisciplinary team combines expertise in bioinformatics, machine learning, and experimental molecular biology to tackle pressing challenges in protein design. 

Whom would we like to hire?  

Professional experience  

Must Have


  • A PhD or equivalent  

  • Strong technical skills in laboratory techniques, including molecular biology, protein expression, purification, and characterization


Desirable but not required/ Nice to have 


  • Experience in enzymatic and ligand-binding assays 


Education and training


  • A PhD (or equivalent) in biochemistry, biophysics, protein design and engineering 


Languages


  • Proficient in English.  

  • Proficient in Spanish and/or Catalan


Technical skills


  • Hands-on experience in analysing proteins by methods such as chromatography, gel electrophoresis, fluorescence spectroscopy, and crystallography 

  • Experience in the development of enzymatic assays 


Competences  


  • Candidates must have highly developed organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with very different expertise

  • Contract duration:Technical and scientific activities contract (estimated 5 years) 

  • Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales 

  • Target start date: 01/06/2024
