Location: Dublin Bar, LEINSTER
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 15 Jun 2024

Post Summary

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPPS) together with the School of Medicine (SOM) is seeking to appoint a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct research on medications optimisation in people experiencing multimorbidity.  The candidate will work on one specific topic (medication optimisation) and contribute to the development of grant applications in this or related areas. This work may overlap rather than being sequential to respond to the intensity of activity on the main project and the timing of funding calls.

The Project is funded by The Meath Foundation and Trinity College Dublin. The successful applicant for this post will join a dynamic, interprofessional, academic-practice collaboration led by Professor Catherine Wall (Tallaght University Hospital), Associate Professor Tamasine Grimes (TCD SOPPS) and Professor Noel McCarthy (TCD SOM).

Both pieces of work focus on medication optimisation in people with multimorbidity. The scope of the project is a systems-based exploration of patient's and carer's self-management of medication at care transitions in Ireland, which involves undertaking qualitative interviews and performing analysis using a systems engineering or human factors & ergonomics approach.

Please note: The Research Fellow will form part of a team of researchers and PIs in TCD’s campus in Dublin 2, the TCD Institute of Population Health campus in Tallaght, Dublin 24, and Tallaght University Hospital. They will be based in Dublin 2 but will undertake some work in Tallaght and will be expected to travel between the two institutions on a regular basis.

The start date is flexible, but the successful candidate would ideally take up the position in August or September 2024.
