Group Leader in Molecular Phytopathology

The candidate should focus and develop research on molecular and/or cell biological plant pathology. Research should focus on crop or model plants, preferably in collaboration with the chair´s other working groups (see also https://www1.ls.tum.de/en/pp/research-divisions/ and https://trr356plantmicrobe.de/). Possible research areas are to develop, improve and apply quantitative cell biology techniques in crops to study molecular crop plant pathogen interactions or to deeply understand plant pattern triggered immuni-ty. The applicant must have a very good MSc degree and an outstanding doctoral degree in biology, bio-chemistry or agricultural biosciences with a strong theoretical background and extensive hands-on expe-rience documented through high quality first author peer-reviewed publications. Knowledge and practical experience in plant pathology (e.g. molecular cell biology, host-parasite interaction, genetics) is expected. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who is able to plan and conduct research in-dependently, works well in a team and has a strong interest in basic and applied molecular plant sciences. The candidate should apply for research grants for support of his/her research aims and of next genera-tion scientists. Excellent English skills, both written and spoken, are essential. German language skills are of advantage. Position is associated with teaching obligations of 5 hours (semester periods) per week.
We offer an international and scientifically stimulating surrounding with focus on basic molecular plant sciences. Furthermore, we aim to develop the scientific basis for understanding and improvement of crop plants for the future (see https://www1.ls.tum.de/pp/startseite/). Payment will be based on the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder TV-L E13/A13 (wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter/Assistent or akademischer Rat auf Zeit). The employment contract will be restricted to three years. Subsequent ter-minated employment is possible according to the usual legal framework.
