PROFILE

Reporting to the Director of the Library & Information Centre, the Reference Librarian conducts in-depth research that supports client work, ultimately providing added value to legal professionals and their clients. As a member of the National Library Research Team, the individual works in collaboration with members in our other offices on initiatives to help further the research and information offerings at the firm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform in-depth and complex research to support client and firm work synthesizing results for efficient and effective use by lawyers and other staff.
Perform high-value research including ongoing legislative monitoring for lawyers and their clients.
Assist in ongoing research projects for key stakeholders in the firm.
Perform competitive intelligence and business research using a variety of resources.
Participate in training lawyers and students on research methods, techniques, and preferred digital resources.
Participate in evaluating new digital resources to enhance user experience.
In collaboration with the National Library Research Team, work on national projects of both a research and technical nature.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies, or equivalent business experience.
5 years or more in a law firm library setting would be preferred.
Proficient with leading edge research and information technologies required.
Highly-developed interpersonal, communication, organizational and time-management skills.
The ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with people at all levels.
Highly-developed analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong customer service orientation.
