Offer Description

The professorship deals with the period in which the cultural, socio-economic and political foundations of the present day were created (around 1500–1800). It is a "bridge professorship" between the Middle Ages and the Late Modern Period. It serves all curricula of the Department of History. Research and teaching are therefore to be covered by the future successful candidate in the broadest possible range, taking into account global historical aspects. Active participation in one of the core topics of the Faculty of Humanities "Trans-Mediterranean Relations. Movements and Relations in the Mediterranean and beyond" or "Perception: Episteme, Aesthetics, Politics" would be preferable. We also expect gender mainstreaming skills

Skills/Qualifications
  • Austrian or equivalent foreign higher education degree corresponding with the position (doctorate/PhD)
  • Habilitation or equivalent qualification in Modern History
  • Outstanding academic qualifications in research and teaching in the relevant discipline (commensurate with stage of academic career)
  • Skills in higher education didactics and online teaching
  • Gender mainstreaming skills
  • Experience in attracting competitive third-party funds and carrying out academic projects
  • Professional experience abroad during academic career
  • Management and leadership experience
  • Excellent knowledge of German and English
  • Good knowledge of another foreign language (desirable)
  • Proof of successful teaching experience and experience in thesis supervising
  • International publications, among which peer-reviewed contributions
  • Willingness to collaborate across epochs within the Department (in research and teaching)

Additional Information
Benefits

The minimum remuneration as stated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement is EUR 89.075,00 gross per year. Salary subject to negotiation.
