Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Student Excellence Program Coordinator to join HiQ, Student Services and Wellbeing, Administrative Division.

The Student Excellence Program Coordinator is responsible for the College of Excellence, a co-curricular program offering experiential and immersive learning experiences for high achieving undergraduate students. The purpose of the College of Excellence is to ensure our scholars are well supported throughout their learning journey, that they embody QUT’s values and are future ready for their chosen career.

The Student Services and Wellbeing portfolio leads the university-wide strategy and coordination of all non-academic matters related to the student experience. The portfolio delivers a range of services across the student life cycle, as well as providing advice and leadership to the university on a broad range of student and staff matters, including social justice and public policy.  The departments within the portfolio include: Student Administration, Student Engagement, Equity, Student Services and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE). The portfolio also has strong links to and works closely with QUT’s Oodgeroo Unit, Student Success Group and Human Resources.  The portfolio is focused on delivering services to support the university’s commitment to an exceptional student experience, leading to positive outcomes in success, retention and completion. This includes developing a campus culture which is inclusive, safe, and respectful for all students and staff.  Student Engagement comprises of HiQ Contact Centre and Service Points, Future Student & Conversion, Engagement teams, and works closely with Sport. HiQ is the university’s contact point for members of the public, staff, prospective and current student enquiries and support services. Services to students and staff include general information, IT support, Library, and student administration. Engagement with future students and their orientation to the QUT student experience is a core focus of Student Engagement.   The Engagement team is responsible for delivering co-curricular programs that further build QUT’s sense of community and support students to develop their professional identity, networks, and employability. QUT sport has strategic and operational oversight of sport activities and programs at QUT..

What you need to succeed

  • Education, training and/or experience equivalent to completion of a degree in education, psychology or relevant field combined with at least four years relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of programs that develop student leadership capabilities, include mentorship principles and creates positive student communities.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate with stakeholders and facilitating workshops for diverse participants.
  • Excellent written communication skills with an ability to write high quality reports for multiple audiences and marketing content for various channels.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with a high level of organisational skills managing complex tasks with competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating data and reviewing programs for continuous improvements.
  • Knowledge of equity and diversity, and workplace health and safety principles and practices related to event management.
