The School is offering new Postgraduate mental health nursing courses and as such is recruiting for a Senior Lecturer, Mental Health Nursing.

As a Senior Lecturer, Mental Health Nursing, you will:

  • Demonstrate excellent scholarly learning and teaching at a higher education level (including for example in the cloud and in clinical settings)
  • Make significant contribution to the moderation and maintenance of academic standards, and the development of course and unit curriculum that exemplifies Deakin’s curriculum framework and meets external requirements such as the Higher Education Standards Framework and professional accreditation
  • Design and implement best practice assessment of student learning outcomes and participating in assessment panels
  • Research and publish in mental health nursing
  • Provide leadership in teaching and learning through roles such as Course Director
  • Lead teaching and learning capability related to discipline or pedagogy, and support the professional development of other academics, including formal mentoring.   

To be successful, you’ll:

  • Be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a registered nurse
  • Hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and/or advanced qualifications and experience in mental health nursing
  • Have an excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs, including innovative curriculum design and research supervision
  • Have a nationally recognised research reputation in mental health underpinned by publications in quality journals relevant to the discipline
  • Have experience in supervising research students
