About the Role 

We are on the search for a passionate advocate and leader in postgraduate education to join our Psychology team as the Senior Lecturer in Psychology. This position will be offered as a 3-year fixed-term contract initially and will be converted to continuing at the end of the initial contract period.

As the successful incumbent, you will predominantly provide leadership and direction related to teaching and teaching-related duties involving the creation, delivery, and continuous quality improvement of university-level education. This role is particularly ideal for a driven professional and emerging leader who will look after course coordination and supervision as well as growing their leadership skills in the role.

Some of the responsibilities of the position are:

• Play a lead role in the review, renewal, development and design of curricula and courses that will enhance the mental health workforce and particularly the place of psychology within the wider mental health sector.

• Create, coordinate, and conduct inspiring teaching informed by approaches that enhance the student experience, with a focus on Post Graduate Psychology programs, across all levels and modes.

• Contribute to the planning and evaluation of these topics, undertaking the roles of Topic Coordinator and Couse Coordinator as required.

• Provide support, academic counselling and professional advice to students concerning their studies, professional development, and career opportunities.

• Provide educational leadership and dissemination of best practice, ensuring awareness and utilisation of contemporary education principles.

There will be flexibilities in this role surrounding job-sharing, working hours and arrangements. In addition, maintaining clinical currency is negotiable, if desired.

Some of the key position capabilities of the role include:

• Evidence of application of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the postgraduate psychology

• Evidence of significant and sustained excellence in teaching performance at a tertiary level including course coordination and or placement coordination in postgraduate psychology programs.

• Excellent awareness of Psychological professional accreditation standards and processes.

• Demonstrated strong understanding of the science-practitioner model and how this translates to core competencies postgraduate students need to develop, and how these can be innovatively taught.

• Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking and implementation, and successful leadership of teams.
