  • HEO 6 Step 1, $65.61 per hour excluding superannuation

About the opportunity

The Data Analyst is responsible for developing interactive visual reports and dashboards, transforming raw data into actionable insights, and contributing to data-driven decision-making processes within the organisation.

DECISION MAKING AND DELEGATIONS OF AUTHORITY

The Data Analyst works under broad supervision, performing tasks as directed and in accordance with defined responsibilities. They choose appropriate methods of work and plan and prioritise tasks. They also resolve routine matters related to responsibilities and collaborate with others to resolve complex matters

Your key responsibilities will be to: 

  • collaborates with business stakeholders to gather and understand requirements for data visualization and reporting

  • designs, develops, and maintains Power BI dashboards and reports that provide insights into key business metrics and performance indicators.

  • extracts and transforms data from multiple sources using EPM, Excel, or other data manipulation tools

  • performs data cleansing, validation, and analysis using tools such as Power Query, Power Pivot, and DAX, to ensure accuracy and reliability of insights.

  • develops and optimizes data models to support business requirements and analytical needs.

  • identifies trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement based on data analysis.

  • creates documentation and user guides for developed Power BI solutions.

  • assists in training and supporting end-users in understanding and utilizing Power BI reports

  • stays updated with industry trends and best practices in data visualization and analytics.

  • takes the lead in handling stakeholder communications, ensuring that concerns are addressed effectively and timely while fostering a culture of trust and collaboration within the work area and beyond

  • facilitates timely report submission, upholds data integrity according to university systems, and partners with managers to advance compliance initiatives.

  • champions a proactive approach to health and safety, review and provide feedback on work area protocols, and collaborates crossfunctionally to ensure consistent safety standards across tasks and projects

  • performs work activities relevant to the role’s key accountabilities as approved by the Manager and commensurate to the role’s classification level

About you

  • demonstrated experience in using data visualisation software e.g. Tableau, Power BI.

  • developing and/or tracking financial and non-financial key performance indicators.

  • some experience with budgeting and forecasting

  • financial planning, analysis and reporting experience
