Senior Financial Analyst (Controlled Entities)

An exciting opportunity for an experienced, qualified, and driven Senior Financial Analyst to join a dynamic team.
• From $108,391 to $117,519 per annum (HEW Level 7) plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.
• Full time, continuing role. Based at Wallumattagal campus, North Ryde.
• High performing team. Hybrid working arrangement.

THE ROLE

Our Finance team is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to provide financial reporting support to the Controlled Entity operations of the University.  The largest of these entities is MQ Health which includes Macquarie University Hospital, Imaging, Consultant Clinics and Mindspot. Other entities include U@MQ and MUSL.

Key accountabilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise day-to-day tasks of Financial Analysts.
  • Act as 2ic for the Team Manager as required.
  • Perform month-end and year-end close activities for the relevant entities across the Group, including preparation and review of complex monthly journals (including: accruals, prepayments and allocations and balance sheet and other GL reconciliations).
  • Liaise and coordinate with key stakeholders on queries, processes, inputs/outputs.
  • Manage primary analysis presentations to stakeholders, including salary related costs and revenue.
  • Identify, design and implement process improvements in areas of responsibility.
  • Support the application of finance policies and procedures and internal controls over assigned responsibilities.
  • Review and approve recurring and standard journals prepared by Financial Analysts.
  • Support provision of data and information for external audits.
  • Comply with relevant EEO and WHS regulations
  • Perform any other duties as required and appropriate for this classification.
  • Coordinate, review and resolve inter-company transactions, prepare inter-company elimination trial balances and create inter- company reporting.
  • Preparation of Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) accruals, as part of supply chain accounting.
  • Strong understanding of the supply chain process & inventory and creating journals in line with accounting principles.
  • Work on reporting for prosthetics analysis and calculating appropriate accruals.
  • Work closely with Systems / IT to implement process improvement initiatives in Controlled Entities.

About You
 

You will have strong financial accounting experience and enjoy working in a dynamic environment. The role will be suited to someone who pays attention to detail as has good communication and stakeholder management skills. You should enjoy working both autonomously and as part of a larger team, in order to achieve the organisational strategic goals. Experience co-ordinating and overseeing staff across the team would be preferable.

  • Excellent planning and time management skills with demonstrated ability to work to high standards and meet strict deadlines
  • Experience in the health sector is desirable but not essential
