Why this role matters:

The Research Assistant will play a key role in supporting the implementation and successful execution of projects in the Tobacco Research Group within the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre . The Research Assistant will conduct and assist with the management and on-going implementation of clinical trials, including contact with participants, data quality checking and clinical evaluation. 

The Research Assistant will report to the Tobacco Research Group, Program lead, Associate Professor and has no direct reports. 

Skills Required:

  • Degree in behavioural sciences or other related field in public health and/ or demonstrated experience with intervening and supporting socially disadvantaged groups to achieve improved health outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in data management and progress tracking and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in working and delivering projects aimed at providing treatment for socially disadvantaged groups.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to contribute to research outputs and reports for diverse audiences.
  • Commitment to integrity and sensitivity in interacting with marginalised or at-risk populations about sensitive issues, including in complying with ethical, legal and policy requirements.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
