About the Role

Reporting to the Manger: Library Services the Reference Librarian team is a cross functional team that assists in supporting the teaching, learning and research activities of the University in various service areas of the Library. They provide expertise in information discovery and resource use in response to complex enquiries and assist in the continuous improvement of services.

The position will initially be appointed to one of the following teams: Library Services or Resources and Technical Services. When in Resources and Technical Services the position will be supporting either copyright, acquisitions, or access and discovery. The core responsibilities of individual positions will be determined by the needs of the Library and qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications or evidence of working towards completion of tertiary qualifications in Information Management or a related discipline or demonstrated equivalent skills and knowledge
  • Experience in and a commitment to excellence in customer service including communicating and assisting a broad diversity of clients over a range of communication tools with a high-level commitment to customer service
  • Working knowledge of trends in digital information and preservation, resource discovery and social media
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and written skills including the ability to collaboratively participate in and across teams
  • Knowledge of information sources and formats and proven ability in searching databases and other web-based products and services
