- Commencement Salary: Level A $96,929 / Level B $109,074 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)
About the Role
This position is primarily focussed on the preparation and delivery of teaching and associated administrative duties within the Academic Unit’s undergraduate programs. It will work with guidance and direction from other academic staff and undertake duties with increasing autonomy as the staff member gains skills and experience. The Lecturer utilises contemporary professional/discipline-related knowledge in their teaching practice and carries out activities to develop scholarly expertise.

The UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance Academic Unit offers a wide range of degrees and conducts research in the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, medical radiation sciences, medical sonography, speech pathology, clinical exercise physiology, exercise and nutrition, health sciences, public health, exercise and sport science, and human movement.

UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance is home to the Alliance for Research in Exercise, Nutrition and Activity (ARENA), a recognised research centre which investigates the role of exercise, nutrition and other lifestyle activities in improving clinical and health outcome and Innovation, Implementation & Clinical Translation in Health (IIMPACT), a research concentration, which focuses on persistent pain and breathlessness, rural health and stroke recovery.
Core Responsibilities
Level A
- Prepare and conduct learning activities including lectures, tutorials, assessments and provide timely feedback to students, as well as coordinate the delivery of undergraduate courses
- Use a variety of pedagogical techniques (including face-to-face, online and blended learning) to foster student learning
- Undertake high quality teaching as part of the teaching team, including participation in moderation of marking exercises and supervision of students on clinical placement
- Incorporate contemporary professional/discipline-based knowledge in teaching activities, and under direction contribute to the design and development of course materials
- Act as a student advisor by responding promptly to queries and directing students to appropriate supports/services
Level B
- Develop, coordinate and deliver courses on campus, offshore, online or via other appropriate methods
- Work collaboratively and reciprocally with staff in other Academic Units and partner organisations to ensure that courses contain quality content which represents contemporary practice and theory
- Undertake course coordination duties (as required)
- Facilitate the connections between research and teaching
- Create, foster and enhance national and international links with relevant industry, business, university and community bodies that assist the advancement of University and Academic Unit objectives
Essential Skills and Experience
Level A
- Undergraduate qualification in Diagnostic Radiography/Medical Imaging together with relevant industry/discipline experience, in contemporary diagnostic radiography practice, with current registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Board Agency (AHPRA)
- Ability to undertake a range of teaching duties including course coordination and the preparation of appropriate teaching materials and resources
- High level written and oral communication skills including demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with team members, external parties and colleagues
- Demonstrated ability to actively engage and educate a student group
- Be capable of using the necessary digital techniques required for effective curriculum delivery
Level B
- Postgraduate degree in diagnostic radiography/medical imaging or equivalent professional/industry experience together with current registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Board Agency (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in contemporary diagnostic radiography practice (such as X-Ray and/or computed tomography and/or Magnetic Resonance Imaging and/or other relevant imaging modalities)
- Demonstrated ability to undertake teaching duties including the design and preparation of teaching activities and resources
- Demonstrated high standard or interpersonal ability, written and oral communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a diverse team
- Demonstrated commitment to continual professional and personal development
- Demonstrated experience with a range of technologies and administration appropriate for a modern university
