  • Remuneration: $116,370 to $127,294 pa (HEW7) (inclusive of $98,334 to $107,565 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)

  • Open to: current staff members of QUT who have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the fixed-term appointment. Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Event and Community Engagement Team Leader to join HiQ, Student Services and Wellbeing, Administrative Division.

The Events and Community Engagement Team Leader, blends event planning, community engagement, and industry collaboration to create purposeful student experiences that foster connectedness, a sense of community and connection with QUT. The role oversees the coordination of an annual calendar of events and activities across Student Engagement and operational management of student spaces designated for initiatives to enhance the student experience.

Student Engagement comprises of HiQ Contact Centre and Service Points, Future Student & Conversion, Engagement teams, and works closely with Sport. HiQ is the university’s contact point for members of the public, staff, prospective and current student enquiries and support services. Services to students and staff include general information, IT support, Library, and student administration. Engagement with future students and their orientation to the QUT student experience is a core focus of Student Engagement. The Engagement team is responsible for delivering co-curricular programs that further build QUT’s sense of community and support students to develop their professional identity, networks, and employability. QUT sport has strategic and operational oversight of sport activities and programs at QUT..

What you need to succeed

  • Education, training and/or experience equivalent to the completion of a degree in business, communications, event management or a related discipline with at least (4) four years’ subsequent relevant
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with others, effectively liaise and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders, staff supervision and team.
  • Proven organisational and problem- solving skills with demonstrated ability to apply sound reasoning, logical judgement and analytical skills including when planning and prioritising demands.
  • Demonstrated success in coordinating student wellbeing, engagement or academic initiatives combined with business or relationship management that supports program initiatives.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering integrated marketing communication campaigns that support program engagement.
  • Demonstrated digital literacy using technology confidently and critically, including effectively using IT systems to record and report on data, and/or to deliver services to customers.
