UWS has campuses in Bankstown, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Nirimba Education Precinct Blacktown, Parramatta and Penrith (including Kingswood, Werrington North and Werrington South). 

It was ranked among the top 600 universities in the world by the Times Higher Education/QS ranking in 2009 and 2010. In 2012, UWS was ranked 19th among Australian Universities by the Australian Education Network [6] up from 23 the previous year.

In 2012, the University underwent a major restructuring of its Schools (faculties). This involved the merging (and complete closure) of some Schools which saw the reduction from seventeen Schools down to nine. The current structure is as follow:
