In June 2012, the QS Top 50 under 50 world rankings place Newcastle at number 33 of top 50 universities in the world under 50 years of age; and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings place Newcastle number 45 in its inaugural 100 Under 50.

The University is awarded an Employer of Choice for Women citation.

In the 2012 Academic Ranking of World Universities, Newcastle places 356th in the world; and 128th in the world in the field of ‘Engineering/Technology and Computer Science’.

Student Health Service:

The University Health Service is a fully accredited general practice staffed by doctors and nurses who understand the medical problems of students. The Health Service provides both emergency and routine medical care to all students and staff.

The Health Service is similar to a general doctors surgery, although we have a special interest in the health needs of students.

The Health Service is open during semester and recess. Our hours at Callaghan are Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm. You can make an appointment to see a doctor or nurse either in person, or by phoning (02) 4921 6000.

Fitness Centre:

The Fitness Passport offers staff and their families the opportunity to access any of a wide range of sports and gym facilities and pools from the Central Coast to north of Newcastle. No matter whether you signed up at Callaghan or Ourimbah or at any other campus, all gyms and pools on the list below are open to you and your families.
