Our Department of Rehabilitative Medicine - Speech Pathology has an outstanding opportunity for a WORK STUDY STUDENT ASSISTANT.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Organize swallow/speech/language/cognitive evaluation and treatment
    materials
  • Create memory books and other tools to support inpatient rehab and acute care patients
  • Enter productivity data from clinicians into an excel document
  • Create alphabet/communication boards or books for patient use, with the supervisor's direction
  • Transcribe and score speech/language samples (Sentence Intelligibility Test)
  • Sort and file various documents; establish and prepare new files/categories within established file systems
  • Enter data into electronic files, spreadsheets, and databases (Excel, Access)
  • Order and track receipt of supplies and equipment, according to established procedures; catalog new inventory
  • Perform related duties as required

  • REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be UW student 18 years of age and older.
    In accordance with UW Employment and Administrative Policies, Chapter 104, Student Employees, to hold an appointment in a student job title, a student must be enrolled at the University of Washington and meet the following minimum enrollment requirements (not including correspondence credits):
  • Undergraduate students - 6 credits
  • Graduate and professional students - 4 credits
  • Ph.D. candidates working on dissertations - 2 credits
  • Granted "on leave" status (see Work Hour Limits below for information about "on leave" status and working between quarters)
    Limited to working 19.5 hours per week when classes are in session, and may work more than 19.5 hours per week during school breaks or
    when "on leave". Students are considered "on leave" as follows:
  • Undergraduates - For one quarter immediately following a quarter in which the student was enrolled for at least 6 academic credits,
    including summer quarter.
  • Graduate and Professional Students - When the student has applied for and been granted such status by the Dean of the Graduate School.
    DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • Post-secondary coursework in Speech and Hearing Sciences and/or Communication Disorders
  • Functional knowledge and demonstration of work processing and data entry skills using Work and Excel applications
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize
  • Ability to answer/make telephone inquiries
  • Proofread, edit, and file
