Wildfire Aerosol Microbiology Post Bachelor Student

What You Will Do

The Bioscience Division is looking for strong post-baccalaureate candidates in the areas of environmental microbiology and molecular biology. The selected candidate will work with a team of scientists to understand the microbial composition, diversity, and activity of organisms in wildlife aerosols (i.e., bioaerosols).

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

• General background in biology, microbiology, and molecular biology

• Familiarity with good laboratory practices and biological experiment design

• Demonstrated strong attention to detail

• Strong communication skills, both oral and written

• Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative team environment

• Must submit a cover letter addressing how you meet each of the minimum requirements and any of the desired skills, if applicable

• GPA of 3.5 or higher

Education/Experience:

A bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, microbiology, chemistry, or related technical field obtained at the time of hire or within the past 3 years, but have not yet been accepted and enrolled in a graduate program.

Desired Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience with molecular biology techniques

• Experience with flow cytometry

• Experience preparing regents for biochemistry/microbiology experiments

• Experience with sterile techniques

• Experience with DNA extraction and PCR

• Experience with DNA sequence data

Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM.

Directive 206.2-Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 .
