The Luminosity Lab is a student driven, interdisciplinary research and development lab at Arizona State University. Luminosity is comprised of high achieving students from diverse backgrounds who were hand-selected for their ability and desire to solve complex problems with creative solutions. Each individual on the team is selected for their own personal merits and unique talents, but at its core, the team is comprised of outstanding problem solvers. The Luminosity Lab is a rare environment that utilizes the network and partnerships of the largest public university, expertise from academic and industry professionals, and the energy and creativity of talented students to identify and solve the vast problems that exist in society. The Vanderploeg Luminosity Scholars Program is for students interested in engaging in applied learning opportunities while pursuing their undergraduate degree. Scholars will receive a monetary award and participate in weekly programming that provides a holistic view of the technical, managerial, financial, analytical, and human perspectives that are needed to successfully design and implement complex solutions to solving 21st century challenges. 

Luminosity looks for the following qualities in student members:
-Able and eager to learn and adapt
-Creative mindset
-Persuasive and motivating communication style
-Desire to innovate and pursue difficult projects
-Able to work effectively with a team
-Able to connect unrelated topics and recognize opportunities.
-Capable of understanding and handling complexity
-Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
-Passion for solving problems and making an impact 

This private donor-funded scholarship is administered and awarded externally by the ASU Foundation in coordination with the Luminosity Lab. Successful applicants will be invited for an interview with the Luminosity Lab team in April 2023.
