Job Summary | The Health Sciences Technology Internship is part of a peer-learning community focusing on fostering health-focused and collaborative projects. The intern will work on helping support a 3D printing service and XR Classroom for the health sciences. The intern will work with a team of library staff to support equipment and develop documentation for students, staff and faculty interested in these services. The Health Sciences Technology intern will be a part of the Eccles Health Sciences Library (EHSL) technology group and work on individual projects under the supervision of an EHSL faculty member. |
Responsibilities | - Maintain 3D printing production environment, such as cleaning or repairing 3D printers, as well as performing printer finishing tasks like removing prints. - Support and staff XR Classroom space to aid instructors as needed. - Create and manage tutorials and guides for 3D printing and virtual reality applications and games. - Collaborate with students, staff and faculty to help develop learning content and objects. - Coordinate focus groups and/or surveys on needs and uses of 3D printing and virtual reality in health sciences. - Coordinate on library events, exhibits, and educational consultations. - Contribute to social media, newsletter, and blog. Applicants are also encouraged to bring their own ideas for health-related projects. At the start of the internship, projects will be negotiated and timelines will be developed. |
Minimum Qualifications | |
Preferences | - Knowledge of 3D printers (Prusa) and VR (Oculus) - Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others - Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills - Available to work 10 hours/week; on-campus job not to exceed 19 hours/wk. |
