City & Metropolitan Planning (CMP) at the University of Utah is part of the College of Architecture + Planning whose mission is summed up in four words: Responsibility, Resilience, Respect, and Response. The Department’s BA/BS undergraduate degree in Urban Ecology focuses on exploring the interrelationships among social, environmental and economic systems. The Urban Ecology degree is also taught at the Utah Asia Campus in Songdo, South Korea. The Master of City and Metropolitan Planning is an accredited professional planning degree with an emphasis on ecological resilience, smart growth, and social justice. The Ph.D. in Metropolitan Planning, Policy and Design produces research-focused scholars, teachers, and leaders. The department also offers a Master of Real Estate Development (with School of Business) and four dual degrees and two graduate certificates.
