Department Summary
The University of North Texas at Dallas, Office of Undergraduate Admission is seeking Trailblazer Student Ambassador Tour Guides. This means that definite work objectives are set for the employee, but methods of performing the tasks are frequently left to the judgment of the employee with occasional instruction or advice provided by the supervisor. Applicants must have a positive attitude and a sincere desire to help prospective students, current students, and the community.
Position Summary
This position requires the incumbent to maintain a consistent and effective level of professionalism with students, guests, UNTD Community and good time management skills. This position is year-round, except on university holidays; includes mandatory trainings. Specific hours are set based on the tour dates and times of the academic year determined by supervisor. Applicants must have a positive and fun attitude and a sincere desire to help prospect students and visitors. Trailblazer Student Ambassadors are a dynamic group of current students who serve the University and positively introduce and promote University of North Texas at Dallas in their role as official tour guides, student recruiters, and student representatives. Trailblazer Student Ambassadors are responsible for introducing prospective students, parents, and visitors to the University of North Texas at Dallas campus through a well-organized, friendly, and informative tour. Finally, as a student representative; serves as a leader and a role model providing a positive image and good character to prospective students, current students and the community.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
The responsibilities and duties Trailblazer Student Ambassador include, but not limited to:
  • Welcoming visitor and prospective students and families to the UNT Dallas Campus.
  • Conduct UNT Dallas Campus Tours and Housing Tours.
  • Conduct UNT Dallas Campus Tour for VIP visitors.
  • Actively participate in recruitment and outreach events led by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
  • Assist the Office of Undergraduate Admissions with Admission marketing campaigns.
  • Complete errands, copies, faxes; other duties as assigned.
  • Assist supervisor and other administrators as needed.
  • Assist in Preview Days for UNTD- True Blue and Trailblazer 360.
  • Participate in discussion panels in regards to college life and experience.
  • Opportunity to participate in campus photo shoots and marketing campaigns
  • Perform other assignments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Trailblazer Student Ambassador must be currently enrolled at the University of North Texas at Dallas in good academic standing and making satisfactory process toward complete of a degree or certification program. Applicants must possess the following:
  • Must qualify as work-study eligible.
  • Excellent customer service skills, as well as effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Some knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural and social backgrounds
  • Responsible, reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to learn assigned tasks readily, to adhere to prescribed routines, and to develop some skill in the operation of common office equipment.
  • Have a minimum 2.25 semester GPA (3.25 if graduate student).
  • Completed 15 hours of course work toward a bachelor’s degree at UNT Dallas.

  • Ability to demonstrate energy and appropriate work ethic.
  • Ability to effectively interact with and speak in front of large groups.
  • Demonstrate the ability to have school spirit and love being a UNT Dallas Trailblazer.

Work Schedule
  • Tuesday – Friday, with some weekends as necessary; Flexible depending on academic schedule.
