Description   Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) funds up to 10 awards for PhD students working on a dissertation related to foreign or 2nd language assessment. Educational Testing Services (ETS) administers and develops TOEFL, along with other tests such as the GRE. They are innovators when it comes to testing and research assessment. Award winners will be notified in December (if they applied by the October deadline) or April (if they applied by the February deadline). 
Award Amount   A stipend of up to $2,000 per year.  
Disciplines   Humanities. School of Education and Information Studies.  
Academic Level   Working on Doctoral Dissertation.  
Citizenship   No citizenship requirements.  
Requirements   Must be a graduate/postgraduate student registered in a doctoral program leading to a degree with a specialization in second or foreign language assessment and have completed all course and examination requirements for the degree. The student's dissertation proposal must have been approved by an appropriate committee at the candidate's university. Letter describing relevance and budget. Abstract of proposal. Dissertation proposal. Letters of recommendation, written by the chair of the dissertation committee and the executive officer of the department.
