Job Summary

The LIS Education and Data Science-Integrated Network Group (LEADING) project at Drexel University seeks fellows for a 6-month virtual educational fellowship program. The LEADING fellowship is for early-to-mid career LIS professionals or doctoral students enrolled in an iSchool or ALA-accredited LIS programs. Fellows will work closely with the project faculty/PIs and project mentors across the 18-member node remote sites during the 6-month fellowship period.

Requirements

  • Completion of online preparatory curriculum (May 2022)
  • Participation in an online interactive boot camp led by data science faculty. The boot camp will run the first 3 weeks of June (2 days a week) [Example 2021 Schedule ]
  • Development of communication plan to connect with mentors on a regular basis
  • Six-month virtual data science internship coordinated with one of our LEADING Mentors .
  • Regular Zoom check-ins with your mentor/s and project faculty/PIs
  • Development of research output: in the form of papers, posters, and presentations
  • Completion of final report documenting methods, outputs, and recommendations for project mentors (template to be provided)

Qualifications 

Candidate must be able to perform the above duties satisfactorily. Qualifications for eligibility are listed below

  • Early and mid-career applicants: must hold a master’s degree earned by or before May 2022 (LIS or other disciplines acceptable)
  • Doctoral students: need to be enrolled in iSchool or ALA-accredited LIS programs or a connected program.
  • International applicants must reside in the U.S., have access to CPT support through your U.S. home institution, and be eligible to work in the U.S.

Master’s Degree, Library and Information Science or related disciplines

No experience required

Additional Information

Fellows will receive a stipend of $6,000 over 6 months (July-December 2022). Work is virtual and asynchronous.

A travel allowance of $1,000 is also available to present Fellowship results at a scientific or scholarly conference.
