Description

 

The College of Sciences & Technology Student Support Specialist is responsible for performing customer service, administrative office support, and student success activities.

DUTIES

  • Answers and routes telephone calls
  • Greets customers of the department and other personnel of the university—in the Virtual Lobby as well as in-person
  • Assesses customer needs and directs them to an appropriate person including scheduling appointments with advising staff
  • Maintains office digital filing and record-keeping systems
  • Assists with department-specific functions and services such as call and recruiting campaigns

MARGINAL DUTIES

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge

  • Computer literate

Skills

  • Proficient in the use of Office 365 programs including Excel, Teams, and Word
  • Familiarity with Zoom is a plus
  • Candidates must have strong problem-solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Abilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community

Qualifications

 

Required Education: High school diploma or GED

Required Experience: Minimum of six (6) months of related job experience


Preferred Qualification
Bachelor's degree with some experience working in higher education or customer service
