The Technology and National Security Fellowship (TNSF) is an opportunity for technologists and entrepreneurs to serve their country by embedding with key decision makers at the top levels of the U.S. Government to provide advice and emerging expertise for issues at the critical intersection of national security and technology.

Skills/Eligibility:

The Technology and National Security Fellowship is currently recruiting applicants for its second annual cohort, which will occur from August 2021 to August 2022. NSIN will select up to 15 fellows with STEM backgrounds and technical expertise to be embedded in the offices of key decision makers at the Department of Defense and on Capitol Hill.

Throughout the yearlong program, Fellows will engage with policy makers and their immediate staff to help provide technical expertise and advice on a variety of critical subject areas. TNSF is open to U.S. citizens with an undergraduate or graduate degree in a STEM or STEAM field with two-to-three years of experience. Participants can possess a diverse skill set ranging from software development to policy research.

Selected Fellows must be:

  • Recent or Imminent STEM graduates (or have meaningful equivalent work experience)
  • Have a desire to contribute their technical knowledge to the national security enterprise
  • Willing to serve in non-partisan roles on the immediate staffs of key decision makers in Congress and at the Pentagon
  • Willing to embed in a host office for a period of one (1) year
  • Able to obtain a U.S. Government secret level security clearance
